Most students become frustrated with meditation because they don't know what the practice is really supposed to be doing. Is it just to quieten those thoughts? Good luck with that! Is it just to sit in uncomfortable positions and observe the breath for hours on end? Yawn...
Michael shares the idea that the real aim of all the techniques of meditation is to point you to the natural state of your mind, a quiet open awareness that once discovered will become your greatest friend and ally. When you learn to meditate in this way you actually want to sit and practice. You look forward to just resting into that joyful essence of you that is never alone, never lacking, never lost. Meditation is a timeless encounter with the simplest part of you that is pure, stainless and free from the beginningless beginning.
